Re: driving.  Actually, when I was driving in CT on the highway, I was
really amazed how courteous the drivers were -- I felt like I was in
Washington state for a while there! :-)  Maybe it's all the cops?  There
was one about every 30 miles or so.  (And I think this is a good thing.
Since Noelle and I moved here at the beginning of the year, I've only seen
1 traffic cop car in Boston.  If I were mayor (!), the first thing I would
do is triple the number of traffic cops.)

Re: generalizing.  Perhaps it is unfair.  Nevertheless, I stand by my
statement that in my 14 years on the west coast, none of those [negative]
things ever happened to me, not even in San Francisco or San Jose.
