I dunno.  This seems like the same old story.
Also, these sorts of stories are going to start getting really old (so to
speak) since this is a worldwide phenomenon.  Every country in the world
will have ultra low birthrates, except maybe a few in the middle east,
Africa, and, of course, Pakistan.
Korea is probably a better mirror, especially for Ca specifically
since it has a similar high-tech sector and media and entertainment
companies.
