Phil Gelb is a world class vegan chef and most of his fans are nonvegetarian gourmets. He offers hands-on vegan cooking classes for $50, which he announced on this list a few weeks ago (see below). Fresh ingredients and all from scratch. Sometimes we've made a meat substitute, but it's always close to a vegan heart, and is never like "fake meat".
I can drive anyone on this list between Menlo Park and Oakland next Saturday Feb 25 for the "Comfort foods gone vegan" workshop from 12pm to 3pm - the menu is veggie burgers, mac and cashew cheez, potato chips, and chocolate chip cookies.
Sounds richer than most of his menus. Still, I've found in past cooking classes his recipes always used much less oil than I expected.
