On my Dell laptop, I bought it with Ubuntu installed. It works pretty
well, 'though it does have some problems/limitations.
On the So_ny laptop I got when I left the company, as well as on all my
other computers, I use plain ol' Debian (Ubuntu is based on Debian).
I chose Debian years ago (1999) because it was the only one where upgrades
can happen entirely over the internet. These days, Redhat, SuSE, and
Mandrake can all do that, but I stayed with Debian. Debian also has a
huge package selection. And I haven't bought a Debian CD since ~2004
because I have been able to install on and upgrade all my computers over
the internet.
