Mr. MacNamara's belief that Los Angeles must keep up its high standards
is preposterous. Does Mr. MacNamara think that the new recruits may not
beat up the proper quota of blacks and Mexicans? It's really a shame that
Ward Connelly has completely ruined any opportunity for diversifying
positions of public office -- if the LAPD needs anything, it needs more
chances to recruit young black men and welfare moms.
