progress on running on hp palmtop?

i'm wondering if anyone's trying to get elks working on a hp200lx, hp100lx,
or hp1000cx palmtops.  i recently acquired an hp1000cx palmtop for the purpose
of eventually running elks/linux-8086 once it gets to that point.

i looked through the faq (the unofficial one) and it left open the questions
about palmtops.  i would guess what would be needed is to (1) have the ability
to have the elks kernel boot by loadlin and (2) use an umsdos file system.
(it appears impossible to reformat the memory for another file system and,
frankly, i don't wanna try because i may be unable to boot my palmtop!)  will
elks ever allow for a semi-complex file system like umsdos?  has anyone tried
to run this way?
