Politics

I am an INFJ according to the Meyers-Briggs-Kiersey index. (I'm actually an INXJ, both an INFJ & INTJ (or is that neither?), but the description of INFJ is closest to me.) So, naturally, I have an interest in politics, albeit a quiet one. (I guess I'm a Highly Sensitive Person.)

Population Stuff

• I used to attend the monthly pro-choice clinic visibilities at Planned Parenthood in Allston in Boston the 2nd Saturday of every month. See here for some cool (or is that cold? :-) photos from the February 9th activity.

I have been actively involved with population issues since 1987. It has always been a big issue for me, up to and including attempting to dissuade my siblings from reproducing. I am a V-Vol for The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, so I have a vasectomy; see also religion below. My interests regarding population growth span the whole spectrum:

• encouraging first-world people to adopt instead of "rolling their own",
• discouraging people from having children if only to stop feeding the capitalist machine surplus labor,
• reducing teen pregnancy by encouraging explicit sex education in the schools,
• making voluntary sterilization affordable to all (hopefully free),
• working to keep abortion legal and available (see bookmarks)
• and working to allow only women to have free education world-wide.

Egalitarian Stuff

My politics lean towards the left and am registered with the Massachusetts Green Party. I don't consider myself radical, just practical. I have sadly discovered that voting in Massachusetts wasn't nearly as easy as it is in California. For example, one did not receive a list of the candidates running in the current election. Also, voting by mail was not easy, either, unlike California. I did not discover any workarounds to this problem.

In California, I am registered with the Peace and Freedom Party (though I agreed with many tenets of The California Green Party).

Religion

I am an atheist because I do not believe in authority figures. However, if religion were forced upon me, probably the Church of Euthanasia would be the one closest to my beliefs.
