Apparently, this card "upgrade" has been a complete disaster. A lot of
people are just giving up and canceling their cards because, like you,
they've had so much trouble trying to get the "upgrade" to work.
See https://www.reddit.com/r/citibank/comments/1t78irm/imprint_transition_for_shell/ ,
for example.
Anyway, I did a web search, and below is what I found.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since you cannot speak to a representative, your options for activating an
Imprint card without a cell phone are limited to email support or online
account management, though these often still require initial phone
verification.
1. Email Customer Support (Primary Option)
If you cannot use the phone or SMS verification, your best course of
action is to email the support team directly. Explain that you do not have
a cell phone and cannot complete SMS verification.
* General Imprint Support: http://www.imprint.co/~support or http://www.imprint.com/~help
* Shell Card Conversions: If your card was converted from Citibank/Shell,
you may need to use the specific Shell support channels, but general
Imprint emails often route correctly.
* Rakuten Card: http://www.imprint.co/~support
In your email, include your full name, mailing address, and the last 4
digits of your card number (if you have the physical card) to help them
locate your account. Request an alternative verification method, such as
email-only verification or security questions.
2. Online Account Setup (With Limitations)
You can attempt to set up your account online at account.imprint.co .
* Process: Visit the site and attempt to register.
* The Hurdle: The system typically demands a mobile number for Two-Factor
Authentication (2FA).
* Workaround: If the system allows you to bypass the phone step or if you
previously registered an email with the issuer (e.g., Citibank for Shell
conversions) that is trusted, you might receive a verification code via
email instead of SMS. However, most users report being stuck at the phone
number entry screen without a mobile device.
3. Live Chat (If Available)
Some portals offer a live chat feature which may allow you to type with an
agent rather than speak.
* Shell Card Portal: The Shell credit card site (support.shell.us ) lists a
Live Chat feature available Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST. Look for
the red "Help" button on their site.
* Imprint Plus: The Imprint Plus site (imprintplus.com) mentions chat
support, but this is often for their merchandise division, not the
credit card division. Stick to the Shell or general Imprint credit card
portals.
Important Note on "No Phone" Policies
Imprint's system is heavily designed around mobile-first verification. If
you have a landline, you can sometimes receive automated voice calls for
verification instead of texts, but you must select the "Call Me" option
during the setup process if available. If you have absolutely no phone
capability (no landline, no mobile), email is your only viable path,
and resolution may take longer than a phone call.
