I remember, when talking with Igor, that his first computer was a

Europe were slightly different than that in the U.S.

BTW, I should also mention that, like you, my second implementation of
snake (in C) was 2-player using a single VT-100 keyboard.  The one I did
in college was also the same, except the underlying OS was not Unix, but
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DG/UX , which was basically a hacked OS,
similar to what Windows 3.1 would become.
