military defense spending

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expenditures_in_the_United_States_federal_budget Looking at this, it's obvious that, although defense spending could easily be cut, just keeping the same level of spending would be sufficient to keep things in control. And, Social Security is not a real problem. It's Medicare and Medicaid which will end up being a problem, slowly eating up all of government spending, maximizing in 2085. Clearly, it's government revenues that are a big problem. Either taxes or fees need to be raised, or more strict enforcement of revenue gathering, or both, need to be done. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_the_United_States shows that increasing the corporate tax to its historical levels would be the best low-hanging fruit; increasing taxes on upper incomes would be the next easiest. The slow dismantling of programs by the Trump administration are not going to do anything. The most disastrous will be increasing tariffs, deporting workers, and defunding the IRS, both for the country and for the people who live here.
