Yeah.  They seem reluctant to let go of any possible, even small, income
stream.

Ultimately, yes.  Especially, anybody learning this stuff is basically
learning old and, mostly, obsolete technologies.

Interesting.  I had been getting contacted by recruiters over the years,
but it definitely tapered off during the last few years for me.
