When 9/11 happened, my first thought and biggest worry was that G. W. Bush
was going to declare martial law.  Instead, what I found is that even the
most liberal people I knew, suddenly rallied around the president and the
flag.  The USA PATRIOT was passed.  And, Bush got re-elected.
I'm not sure why humans desire leadership so badly and why leaders are so
infrequently blamed, but it will certainly be the ultimate downfall of
humanity.
