I was listening to a radio program about ransomware and they said that
Android is less secure than iPhone (iOS).
And then I saw this old article:

Note the HTC. And then I started thinking about your old phone. If you
continue to use that HTC you have, you may be vulnerable. Seems like
Samsung is slightly better, 'tho not perfect.
