I asked him about it.  He said that after he starts working on the faucet,
he can replace any parts that are needed.

Well, we still have the problem, I guess.  Time for diatomaceous earth and
a little boric acid.  (These are the non-water soluable solutions; borax
is water soluable, but not as effective for dry surfaces.)
