I've never found you to be rude in email.  However, you do have a blunt
style and, with your shorter emails, it can come off as sharp-tongued.

I remember my friend Bruce Moreland in college was very blunt and it took
me a long time to get used to it and realize that it was not malicious.

Maybe these people just need to get to know you better?
