OK.  For future reference, always ask the person for either:
 1) A public key to send encrypted email to.
 2) A phone number to call to relay the information.
 3) A fax number to fax it.
But, in general, you should never send your social security number through
email, even if it's a scanned document.  Email is far too easy to
duplicate and distribute.
A lesser problem is your credit card: also don't send credit card numbers
through email.  However, if you use a temporary credit card, it's less of
a problem.
