Looks like you can completely disable SMS, too:

 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smsBlocker

However, this particular hack is not via sms per-se, but rather the image
itself.  So, using your phone for web browsing or receiving emails with
images in them are also vulnerable until the official fix comes out.
