Just chatted with Claire.  We clarified my current salary.

Some other stuff:

1) It turns out that Claire had not discussed the concept of my coming on
board with the people I interviewed with, Leon and Scott.  So, I guess the
"offer" isn't really an "offer", but a potential offer.  This is even less
than I expected and probably would've alleviated some worry.  There is, of
course, a possibility that there will be an indefinite hiring freeze, due
to farmerinthedell's precarious position.
2) She said that she may hear back about things on Friday; she'll contact
me earlier if she hears anything.  But, despite that, she doesn't expect
the position to actually become open 'til October (!).

So, things are pretty much still up in the air, contrary to what I had
originally thought.
