A huge congratulations to you Eric!
On that note, let me take this opportunity to share "Great Vegan Athletes": http://www.greatveganathletes.com/
It is good to share all these kudos for vegan masculine health...just to remind though that the original article speaks to the advertising dilemma that needs to be overcome.

I'm the only man in my circle of friends who is vegan. So when I hear
another man suggest or joke that being vegan is unmanly, or that real men
eat meat etc., I point out that since becoming a strict vegan two years ago,
my testosterone tripled, I no longer use any meds for high blood pressure,
cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, etc, and I lost 100 pounds. Then I flex a
muscle and say that women tell me I'm much more masculine now that I can
have sex without Viagra, I run marathons, and my waist is 32 instead of 50.
It shuts them up everytime.

Well, then, maybe we women need an attitude adjustment so the men can
follow. Personally, I've always found uniforms and power-tripping men a
huge turn-off, and I've never understood women who find this attractive, but
I know a lot do.

And maybe few women on this list find such men attractive, but if you're one
of them, maybe think of these types of guys like meat or dairy or eggs or
sugar or whatever you've dropped with difficulty from your diet. Just keep
repeating to yourself, "he's bad for me and bad for the planet (as in wars &
violence)". Eventually, good veggie men will seem as attractive as broccoli
& tofu (or whatever your current faves are).

P.S. A really good biographical movie that shows how slaughterhouses can be
made more humane, at least from the point of view of a person who views
animal slaughter as a necessity, is "Temple Grandin". She is an autistic
woman born around 1947 who in observations of cattle in her youth, learned
to think and feel like them. There's a lot more to the movie than that, but
I don't want to make this a multi-page P.S. Anyway, her ideas were
implemented back in the 70's.

This likely relates to the increased intake of fight-or flight hormones. The
animal knows it is about to be killed (aka "slaughtered"), so it's system is
flooded with adrenalin (epinephrine) and other fight-or-flight hormones.
These are then present throughout the animal's body as it is killed, and
some is passed on to the eventual eater of the products. I know of no way to
prevent this from happening, perhaps other than to anesthetize the animal
before it realizes what is about to happen.

Anyway, as a result, men who eat a lot of meat fill their bodies with these
hormones, then with follow-on testosterone (among other things). At a very
deep, biological level, they become "more attractive" to many people, not
only in terms of sexual attractiveness, but also in terms of power
attractiveness.

Make sense?

Meat-Eating is Seen as Masculine
New studies about the reasons of why fewer males are vegetarian or vegan
compared to women indicate that meat-eating males tend to be seen as more
masculine. Researchers examined 23 languages that use gendered pronouns and
discovered that meat-related metaphors were also more closely associated to
the male gender. Please visit Meat-eating males considered more masculine
than vegans and vegetarians, per study

As one commenter stated...this is further propaganda by the meat and dairy
industry...however, this study highlights the importance of the availability
of meat analogs in the market in order to help dismiss the myth that equates
meat with masculinity.

>From where I sit, a compassionate man that has reconnected with his love of
animals, and therefore not supporting the cruelty of slaughter, is most
appealing to me.
