The Max station is 1 mile away long walk. There is a bus system need to check
schedule to get to the transit center. Will check vegan place and the donut
place has vegan donuts and open late. Etiopian rest in SE Portland (Jarra) I
know of. There is a backroads trail you may want to see, beer, vineyards, or
just walk around town. Belmont has better coffee shops but I have not been
hanging out there as it is far from where I live. Lots for you to do--I will
get the Willamette Week for you. The Amtrak goes to Seattle but you said you
will be driving as you will go to Mt St Helens.

HI LIZA:
this e-mail might look strange, the Word program gave me error messages about
replying to this message, I'm sending it in HTML
I really need this vacation. Counting down til Tuesday night. See you
Wednesday. I still have not talked to my cousin. I left a message on their home
phone number in CArlton. I am hoping their kids are OK, or else people with
young kids just get very flakey. I'll try calling them this weekend.

I went ahead and reserved our Amtrak sleeping car. I remember those old movies
where the people are traveling on trains and I always wanted to see how that
was like. I will send you the itinerary, we are arriving 8/22 and leaving
8/31. I called my cousins house, no answer, I left a voicemail. I should have
called one of their cellphone numbers instead(I should do this tonight).
Do you have public transportation near your apt? Have you been to Food Fight
Vegan Grocery? We have a vegan cooking video and one segment they visit the
grocery. We could also go to the donut place. If you have other ideas let me
know. Are there Ethiopian restaurants you know of?

I haven¢t reserved Amtrak yet, it is scheduled to get into Portland the late
afternoon of 10/22. I haven¢t heard back from my cousin yet(probably should
call him this weekend). I bet his wife will vote for McCain/Palin(the Downs
syn. Vote).
If you go to my flickr.com you can see me wearing the Obama 08 tie dye shirt I
bought at the Sacramento for Obama family picnic.

Yeah let me know what you end up with; The Amtrak goes straight to Portland
via Davis and Eugene and on to Seattle; does not go straight to Vancouver, but
there is a bus connection. and from Vancouver to the rest of Canada--how much
time to you have?

I got 10/21-10/31 off from work, so let's start planning.
Let's look and see if Amtrak will work.
