Details
"Superb views are the reason to wander uphill from the shady confines of Peters Creek to the dramatically situated Wallace Stegner memorial bench high atop Long Ridge. On a clear day, the scene extends westward over Pescadero Creek watershed, taking in thousands of acres of protected lands."
This is a 4.6 mile loop trail with a 850 ft. elevation change.
Printable Trail Map - with turn by turn directions:
The hike should take about 2 hours, possibly more depending on our pace. On my hikes, no hiker is left behind!
There are no dogs allowed on the trails that we will be hiking, sorry.
Please bring water and a snack, I don't want anyone getting dehydrated or run down.
Make sure you check the weather report and dress appropriately. I always recommend at least bringing a wind breaker, even if it is for-casted to be 90 degrees.
Google map:
The parking point on the Google map is approximate - to locate the Grizzly Flat parking area:
Parking for Long Ridge Open Space Preserve is on Skyline Boulevard, about 3.6 miles north of its intersection with Highway 9, and approximately 3.3 miles south of its intersection with Page Mill Road.
From the north on Skyline Blvd., the pullout is just past Portola Heights Road on the right.
From the south, the pullout for the Grizzly Flat parking area is near the Palo Alto city limits sign on the right.

We will be meeting at the Park and Ride lot on Campbell and Winchester Blvd. at 9:00 AM.

I would enjoy being part of this. The only thing that might keep me from doing it, is if the Sharks play that day earlier than the scheduled time of 3:30. Hope I can make it.
