I suspect that the sort of service that they would provide would be "local wireless" (with hot spots, which may or may not be close to where you live). The sort of service I was thinking of signing up for myself was more of a "distance wireless" which I could have wireless during my entire commute from where-I-live to San Jose and back. Although, in theory, doing "local wireless" all the way down could be possible, it could get complicated, having to change SSIDs and channels (for 802.11b protocol) all the way down and all the way back; "distance wireless" (like Earthlink wireless) would be easier for me. BTW, my provider, http://www.sonic.net offers a "local wireless" internet service. But, I need to have a dedicated line since I run my own web server and mail server. > I'll check into that.
