estimated quarterly taxes/annualized income installment

Hi, Gail.

I was leafing through my book about taxes as a self-employed person.  I
have had a couple of short-term contracts and don't know how I should deal
with this.

Do you know anything about this?

1) What payments do I need to make to the state of Ca?
2) My income has been uneven and I'd like to use the annualized income
   installment method.  Do I need to pay tax throughout the year using
   this method?
