cold calling to find a job works

Someone on the CPC Job Connections mailing list asked for some contacts at
Symantec a few weeks.  Although I only had cold contacts, I gave him my list. 
Just last week, he told me that, although he did not get a job there, he got
someone to take a look at his resume due to my cold contact list.

So, the moral of the story is: cold calling does allegedly work.  It just
hasn't worked for me thus far.  ('Though, admittedly, I haven't pushed the
envelope all the way.)
