I printed out a copy of http://jobsmart.org/hidden/asher1.cfm . I could
copy my copy for you. The script we could use is the one I suggested
before:
Hello, my name is Robert. I got your name from DBM/The Mercury
News/whatever. I'm interested in a position in information technology.
Who would I need to talk to? ... And what is their e-mail address? ...
Thank you!
We could do this for as many companies on the list as we can tolerate. We
could use this notation:
"A" means we weren't given the e-mail address
"N" means we can't get a name
If we get an e-mail address, then just write it down along with the name.
For those that are marked "A", but we have a name, we could send our
resumes and cover letters on paper instead of e-mail. For those marked
"N", we'll have to be more cunning and try to find names in the companies
or someone who might know the names and follow up with them.
