If you wanna screw around with that Linux machine, I think I know what may be causing that dependency problem. You need to remove this line: APT::Default-Release "stable"; from /etc/apt/apt.conf . If you do do this, then run "dselect", do Access, Update, and then Select. Then, just hit the Return key and see if it complains about dependencies. If it does complain, then just hit 'X' (capital X), shutdown the computer (use CTL-ALT-DEL) and I'll deal with the problem later. If it doesn't complain, then go to Install and do any necessary updates.
