In this case, can you not use Mom and Dad's connection?  I'm still using it.
Supposedly, there's going to be cable modem access via www.home.net in
Boston in November.  I'm biding my time for that.  Perhaps you're in the
same situation?

Sure.  The best type of connection is ppp + diald.  You might try
looking at http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~iang/ppp/primer.html to get started.
You might also look at http://home.sol.no/~bajohann/lg/index.html if you get
stuck.  Finally, if all else fails, look at the PPP-HOWTO which should be on
your hard-drive somewhere.
