OK, good.

1) Don't take any legal action until you find out whether you can receive
   unemployment benefits/compensation.
2) After you've determined that, you might consider sueing your company
   for your leg problems.  You are legally entitled to do this since you
   did not file worker's compensation.  But you may have to do this
   quickly since there may be a statute of limitations (in CA, it's 5
   years).
