Whoa! Major bummer! That is very sad. It can be a "dropping feeling" when a companion animal is lost -- you know, the stomach thing (as George (without a dub-i-ah) Bush would say). I do hope she turns up. Since I have you on-the-line, I wanted to ask about Sar-dine. Do they still want to bear their own children? Do they actually still want children? I've been thinking about signing 'em up for a gift membership to Zero Population Growth.... So many of Noelle's friends are having children, and it makes me sad. I keep thinking that I've convinced someone some way, or that they are already thinking a certain way, and then they do something in complete contradiction. I'm especially scared for the future. People are getting married and having kids, but I know that once financial times get bad (again) that it will just mean divorce and severance. (Maybe Dave has scarred me for life :-).) > The address for Beckman's is: 104 Bronson ST.#6 > Santa Cruz, CA 95062 Thanks. I'll look 'em up. > I went on another SF critical mass last night, it wasn't as big as the > last one but it was fun. Rad. I'm thinking about getting gear for my bike so I can bicycle in winter. I don't really bicycle that much around here, but I figure that if I invest in my bike that I'll be more likely to use it. (Is this the cart before the hars'? And, more importantly, would George Bush pronounce it "hars'"?) Actually, now that I think about it, probably I could use it today. It's weird how you get into this "don't think of riding your bike" mode of thinking. (I was planning to walk everywhere I wanted to go today, but riding would definitely be speedier.) August's pro-choice rally in front of the clinic didn't occur. They called me during the week saying "we're hoping you can come", but I show up there and wait 20 minutes and no one shows up. They didn't even call me. But, at least, I got to ride my bike there (my main use of my bike on a monthly basis :-) and get some exercise. I figure that they wimped out 'cause it was raining. Good thing we weren't in Olympia -- if we didn't do something due to rain, we would have never done anything! Anyway, next time, I'm gunna write down their number and call 'em so I can make 'em feel real guilty... > So, I'm thinking it's about time I visit you all. Is October a good time? > What's the weather like then? When are the leaves changing? I'll hunt > around for a good air fare. Yes. It's probably the best time of the year. Mid-October is about like mid-January in the Bay Area -- cool, but not cold. And the leaves look lovely. We're probably going to go to New Hampshire to get the car oil-undercoated in October (so it doesn't rot-to-death during the winter) so that'd be a good chance to see the beautiful Fall colors. Otherwise, October will be a very busy month for me: 10/12 Y6B -- Year of Six Billion Awareness Day (you can come!) 10/13 Mass NARAL "Swing for Choice" (you can come!) 10/15-10/22 Noelle's Dad comes for a week Plus, there's gunna be a "Respect Life March" some time in October and probably us NARAL/NOW/Planned Parenthood/Zero Population Growth-types will be marchin' against 'em (you can come to that, too!). And, I'll have to start preparing for winter -- pull the dead plants and cover the area with mulch and other stuff. Also, other house stuff: fixing the insulation under the foyer (for what it's worth), completing the seal around the doors, etc. Of course, you're always welcome to help :-). The Savvy Traveler said that plane ticket costs will be coming down due to the end of summer, so that may be a win, too. > Let me know what you think... > > Bye for now, > Kathryn
