Briefly. They had one at my workplace. It was a little tricky to use,
but the command line was familiar. :)

Yeah. Supposedly, Darwin is a totally free/open source version of Mac X.
It'll be nice when that is done -- then everything will be open source,
including the OS.

I run Debian. It is tricky. I have a somewhat new PC (bought it about 4
months ago) and it took me two days to get the sound card working. And
it's pretty shitty sound quality, too. But I love Debian. It's so easy
to get new software packages and to upgrade my computer once it's
installed.

Does it have a CD drive? If so, try downloading http://www.knoppix.org or
buy the CD. It just runs Linux w/o actually installing it.
