I just now added: nameserver 209.75.197.2 nameserver 209.75.197.3 to /etc/resolv.conf > If so, try changing it to server > assigned name server addresses and lets see if that solves the TCP/IP > packet problem. Let me know if that works. Nope, it does not work. First, "ifconfig" does not list either "slip" nor "ppp" interfaces after the connection has been made. That makes sense since pppd doesn't get a remote IP address and therefore doesn't initialize the interface nor add a route. Here's what the log file says with my old ISP (which works correctly): Jan 19 21:08:30 pppd[26053]: rcvd [IPCP ConfNak id=0x1 <addr 209.6.66.137>] Jan 19 21:08:30 pppd[26053]: sent [IPCP ConfReq id=0x2 <addr 209.6.66.137> <compress VJ 0f 01>] Jan 19 21:08:30 pppd[26053]: rcvd [IPCP ConfAck id=0x2 <addr 209.6.66.137> <compress VJ 0f 01>] Jan 19 21:08:30 pppd[26053]: local IP address 209.6.66.137 Jan 19 21:08:30 pppd[26053]: remote IP address 209.244.43.202 Jan 19 21:08:31 diald[161]: New addresses: local 209.6.66.137, remote 209.244.43.202. Jan 19 21:08:31 diald[161]: Setting pointopoint route for ppp0 Jan 19 21:08:31 diald[161]: running '/sbin/route add 209.244.43.202 metric 0 dev ppp0' Second, "traceroute -n 209.75.197.2" never reaches anything. (Unsurprising, given the above.) Is there any way I could get a PAP secret? Maybe that would be the best way to repair this problem. > Peleus Uhley > Anonymizer Inc. > > On Thu, 20 Jan 2000, Robert wrote: > > > > From: Peleus <http://www.sirius.infonex.com/~peleus> > > > Date: Mon Dec 12, 9:42pm > > > > > > I am not sure where you are getting the request for the PAP > > > authentication.
