I cannot and never will believe in the death penalty/sentence. The death penalty definitely does not deter -- there are numerous studies confirming this. At least with the non-death route, there is the chance of reversal if the accused is later proven innocent. (Aside: Isn't this a question on the MBTI test? Something about mercy and justice?) There have been 3 reverse decisions recently in the United States where the imprisoned person on death row was later proven innocent and then released. I just cannot see throwing away life in the way that the death penalty does, especially if the initial decision was wrong or the person did end up being rehabilitated. Although I do believe there should be fewer births in the world, every human being who ends up being born is unique and should be preserved to the extent possible.
