I have devised an algorithm which may be patentable (if there isn't already
an outstanding patent on it). I read an article by you describing an
organization that may patent ideas so that the algorithms and their
associated programs would remain open-source. Has such an organization
been set up? I would very much prefer that this algorithm remain
permanently public-domain because it may be generally useful to other
people.
BTW, in an attempt to assure that I can prove when my code was posted,
I submitted the web page to AltaVista. Hopefully, this may be good
enough so I don't have to (as you relate in your article) accumulate
legal fees to defend myself and so on.
