Carol, I got my RSI when I was 28. That was almost 5 years ago. And my wrist tendinitis is still going strong, I'm sorry to say. I suffer every day (I guess I have chronic tendinitis). Anyway, you might wanna visit my web site: http://dummy.us.eu.org/robert I've included my RSI page below. Some points may help you. Good luck! BASE=http://dummy.us.eu.org/robert/software/typebreak.shtml Controlling my R.S.I. I have tendinitis in my right wrist. The tendinitis has lasted over 4 years with absolutely no sign of resignation. I had been typing for 17 years before anything cropped up. Anyway, here's how I keep my R.S.I. (repetitive strain injury) ,http://www.engr.unl.edu/ee/eeshop/rsi.html, under control: * Daily Vitamins. 1 Liga-Tend ,http://www.vitaminexpress.com/ordrcrtl.htm, (by BioChem); also see or here ,http://www.n2health.com/catalog/cl/cl-bpss.htm, . 2 1950mg of a magnesium/calcium combination ( Nerve & Osteo Support ,http://www.n2health.com/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/catalog/cl/cl-tm.htm?L+n2health+hgvg8389+892569826, by Country Life). 3 between 6 and 14 grams of a flax seed/borage oil mixture ,http://www.vitaminconnection.com/pl/pr_efa_combo.html, (very high in GLA); hemp oil seems to work well, too. (Primose oil seems to do nothing for me.) 4 A multivitamin containing B6 as one of its constituents. * Other things. 1 Been drinking lots of water; supposed to flush out toxins in the area of inflammation. 2 Been forcing myself to write with my left hand to give relief of my right hand; in addition, I also now mouse and trackball with my left hand. 3 Use a splint at night. 4 Ice my wrist throughout the day to relieve pain. 5 Stretch using stretches described in Repetitive Strain Injury by Pascarelli. 6 Massage my forearms while holding them over my head during my breaks. 7 Occassionally use my crook/ Theracane ,http://www.carerehab.com/ctlg/ctlg3.htm, (available from Back Designs in Berkeley next to Orchard Supply). 8 Take breaks using my typebreak ,software/typebreak.shtml, program. 9 Remap (via xmodmap & loadkeys on Linux) my keyboard so that the return and backspace keys are on the left-hand side of the keyboard to take pressure off my right hand. 10 Use a Lexmark keyboard (these are currently no longer being produced) connected through a Kinesis adaptor to my Sun and also to my PC. 11 Put keyboard on lap on top of a 14" tall (or wide in my case since I place it horizontally) notebook; use cabinet cloth to prevent the keyboard from slipping around. 12 Use a typing prediction program called rk ,software/rk.shtml, . 13 Attend the monthly R.S.I. East Bay Support Group meetings held on the second Wednesday at 400 29th St. #105 in Oakland, CA.
