The "ackmail.rc" script does its own caching to avoid sending multiple replies to the same address more frequently than once per day. The reason I did not include a "formail -D" is because I use another recipe "dupcheck.rc" before I use "ackmail.rc". I do not like having scripts' functionalities overlap each other. Currently, as its internal documenation says, it will only respond to each address once per day. It is trivially easy to change it to respond only once, ever.
