I was disappointed in the story about computerizing medical records and privacy issues that you did not interview a representative from the American Health Information Association. AHIMA is the national organization for health information professionals (i.e. medical records professionals)and is the vital link between the patient and the medical staff. AHIMA members feel that confidentiality is the most important responsibility of those who work in the medical records office. Unfortunately the public is not aware of the health information profession (it is one of the fastest growing professions in the U.S.), and even members of the medical profession do not appreciate the importance of this profession. Otherwise, it was an important and interesting report.
